The EC meeting, which was chaired by JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav on Saturday, agreed to seek clarification from Thakur, Mahato, Laxman Lal Karn, and Sarbendra Shukla. They were questioned about their support for Prime Minister KP Oli, which included going against the party’s consensus and nominating the parliamentary party’s (PP) leader, among other things.
Mahato was recently chosen as the PP leader by the Thakur party.
According to a source, 30 of EC’s 51 members were physically present at the meeting on Saturday, while two others participated remotely. JSP’s co-chairmen are Yadav and Thakur, and the party’s Federal Council Chairman is Babu Ram Bhattarai.
The task force created to reform the constitution was also disbanded at the meeting. Thakur appointed Sarbendra Shukla and Laxman Lal Karna to the task force after the government requested a five-member task force to review statute amendment. The EC meeting concluded that Thakur’s task force was a one-man show.
The EC meeting will also continue on Sunday.
Thakur canceled the meeting on Friday, but Yadav and Bhattarai convened it today.
