According to his sister, a prominent Myanmar actor, musician, and model who has supported the country’s anti-coup protests was arrested on Thursday, as the junta continues to track down more 100 celebrities for their support of the movement.

Since the military seized power on February 1, the country has been rattled by regular demonstrations, and the authorities have a bloody crackdown on dissent, with hundreds killed and over 2,500 detained.

Paing Takhon, a 24-year-old celebrity in both Myanmar and Thailand, has been a vocal supporter of the protest movement, both in person at rallies and through his large social media following.

His sister Thi Thi Lwin wrote on Facebook that “some 50 soldiers with eight military trucks” came to arrest him his mother’s home in Yangon’s North Dagon neighborhood early Thursday.

“They arrested him peacefully and without because he is severely ill. We have no idea where he’s been taken “she said.

Paing Takhon has been in poor health, according to recent updates on his social media accounts, where he had over a million followers on Facebook and Instagram.

“For several days, I’ve been in poor health. I used to pray for good health and for Myanmar to achieve as as possible whenever I worshipped Buddha “On Wednesday, he wrote.
He posted photos of himself at a rally in February wearing a white tracksuit, a megaphone, a hard hat, and a white fluffy dog attached to his chest.

In February, he wrote on Instagram, “Help avoid crime against humanity.”

His social media accounts have been deactivated, but it is unclear if he did so on his own.

Paing Takhon is well-known in Thailand, having starred in advertisements and television shows.
He shaved his head and briefly entered the Buddhist monkhood in January, sharing pictures of himself in burgundy robes on social media.

The Myanmar government has issued an arrest warrant for 120 celebrities, including singers Lin Lin and Chit Thu Wai, actors Phway Phway, Eaindra Kyaw Zin, and Pyay Ti Oo, and model May Myat Noe.

The celebrities are accused of inciting dissent against the military, which carries a three-year prison sentence if convicted.
