On Sunday, a tiger attack in the Bardiya National Park claimed the life of a park worker.
Police Ram Tharu, 31, a staffer at the park’s elephant shed and a permanent resident of Thakurbaba municipality-9, has been named as the victim. He was chopping grass for the elephants that were being used in the ongoing national rhino census.
According to Asim Thapa, the park’s assistant conservation officer, Tharu was assaulted about 5 p.m. yesterday and his body was discovered a few hours later.
Meanwhile, park officials have taken custody of a tiger accused of killing Tharu.
The number of tiger attacks in the national park has recently increased.
