Cardamom exports have more than doubled. Exports have more than doubled as international demand for cardamom has increased. Cardamom exports increased by 93.7 percent to Rs 8.70 billion in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, according to the Customs Department. 84.48 lakh kg of cardamom was exported during this time period.
In the previous fiscal year, 43.09 lakh kg worth Rs 3.46 billion were exported during the same period.
Cardamom is commercially grown in districts such as Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, and Gorkha. It is grown on 15,400 hectares of land in Nepal. Every year, Nepal produces 5,000 tonnes of cardamom.
The country’s cardamom is exported to India, Pakistan, Dubai, and European countries.
