With the introduction of the debenture provision by , banks have become more aggressive in debenture issuance. According to the NRB directive in the fiscal year 2019/20 monetary policy, commercial banks should issue debentures equal to at least 25% of their paid-up capital.

Several commercial banks have already issued the debenture in accordance with NRB guidelines. Similarly, eight banks and financial institutions are preparing to issue debentures to the general public. These banks have applied to the (SEBON) to issue the debenture.
