The Covid-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc on Nepali hoteliers for more than a year. Despite this, the entrepreneurs say that the pandemic is causing a monthly loss of Rs 1.8 billion.
The Hotel Association Nepal shared some data about the pandemic’s effect on the hospitality industry in Nepal during its 47th annual general meeting.
Many hotels in the country are still closed, according to Shreejana Rana, the organization’s founder.
According to the association, hoteliers have invested Rs 1.5 trillion in the country’s hotel sector, but they have yet to pay debts totaling Rs 300 billion to various banks.
According to Rana, the sector contributes 7.8% to the country’s gross domestic product and employs one million workers.
