A teenage Dalit kid was beaten black and blue with his hands tied lately in Rautahat district’s Durga Bhagawati rural municipality-5. The incident gained attention after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The survivor has been identified as 11th grader Bikas Paswan, and the attacker as Kinsidev Giri, a resident of Durga Bhagawati-4. According to witnesses, Kinsidev and his sons Santosh and Chhotu, among others, assaulted the youngster for allegedly writing a love letter to a Tharu girl in the area.
They advise him not to pursue a relationship with a Tharu girl because he is a Dalit.
“But I don’t know what it was about,” Dharma Nath Chaudhary, chairperson of Durga Bhagawati Ward 5, says. “I haven’t been able to take stock of it due to my busy schedule.”
