KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has agreed to ask 11 legislators, including Madhav Kumar Nepal, for clarifications.
A meeting of the UML Standing Committee held Saturday at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar decided to question Nepal faction parliamentarians about why they agreed to oust the party chairman from the Prime Minister’s post and supported the opposition party’s claim to form the government.
Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Mukunda Neupane, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Kalyani Khadka, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karna, Laxmi Chaudhary, Kalila Khatun, and Nira Jairu, according to UML Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali, have been asked to send their explanations by Monday morning.
He went on to say that the party would make a final decision after reviewing the explanations.
On Friday, a total of 26 lawmakers backed Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s request to form government. However, only 11 people have asked for clarity. When asked why, Gyawali explained that some of the lawmakers’ public statements on Friday contradicted each other. He went on to say, “We’ll speak to others separately.”
