According to reports, the UK, Nepal’s oldest diplomatic partner, has agreed to supply 2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Interestingly, amid the diplomatic mission’s indifference, the House of Lords voted in favor of Nepal.
According to sources, British Ambassador to Kathmandu Nicola Pollitt, who was given the task of arranging for the vaccine, told Prime Minister KP Oli about the UK government’s assistance two days ago.
Nepal had previously obtained 348,000 vaccine doses through the COVAX scheme. The United Kingdom had also contributed to the initiative.
The slow performance of the Nepali Embassy in Britain has irritated officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu.
