According to the representatives, as many as 149 lawmakers who submitted an application to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday requesting that Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba be named prime minister would file individual lawsuits. They serve the Nepali Congress, the CPN-Maoist Centre, the CPN-Madhav UML’s Kumar Nepal-led faction, the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal’s Upendra Yadav-led faction, and Rastriya Janamorcha.
The lawmakers would ask the Supreme Court to issue a certiorari appointing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister and restoring the dissolved House of Representatives.
The leaders say that even though they planned to file the lawsuits today, gathering the lawmakers’ signatures took time.
The lawsuits were drafted by Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, Maoist Centre leader Dev Gurung, and attorneys Satish Krishna Kharel, Yogendra Karki, Govinda Bandi, and Mukti Pradhan.
