Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) will provide a refinancing facility to hydropower projects that have been severely impacted for a variety of reasons. The central bank has amended the ‘Nepal Rastra Bank Refinancing Procedure, 2077′ to provide relief to the affected projects.
Such facilities will be made available to the projects identified in the report of the committee formed to investigate the problems of financially distressed private-sector hydropower projects. Hydropower projects less than 10 MW will be refinanceable for a maximum of one year.
The committee concluded that there were issues with 35 projects with capacities less than 10 MW. Such a facility will also be available to projects that are experiencing difficulties as a result of Corona.
