KATHMANDU: Remdesivir, a drug used to treat COVID-19 infection, will be manufactured in Nepal.
After receiving approval from the Department of Drug Administration, this medication will be manufactured in Nepal.
Santosh KC, the department’s information officer, said National Health Care, based in Birgunj, had been granted permission to manufacture the drug.
He went on to say that permission was granted after a thorough examination of the pharmaceutical company’s infrastructure.
Remdesivir was previously imported from India and Bangladesh. The drug will set you back about Rs 5,000.
Ajaya Pandey, Vice President of National Health Care, said they are preparing to bring raw materials for medicine from China once they have received permission.
He stated that the raw materials would be delivered by May 31. The drug will be manufactured and distributed in 15 days from that date.
