The government has extended the deadline for Smart Telecom, the countryR17;s private mobile network service provider, to pay back arrears. According to a Cabinet decision on July 14, the Company has been given six months to clear its arrears totaling more than Rs 6 billion.
The Company had until July 15, 2021, to clear its arrears. According to Santosh Paudel, NTA Spokesperson, a letter in this regard has reached the Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA). Following the extension of the deadline, the Company is now required to submit a progress report to the NTA every month, he explained.
After Telecom failed to pay the arrears, the Authority wrote to the Land Survey and the Land Revenue office in April. For four years, the company has failed to pay the amount owed to the government in various topics.
