Former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel proposed a budget of 1.647 trillion through an ordinance. Its implementation has now been hampered because the Oli-led government suffered a setback three days before its implementation.
It is unclear whether the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government will present a full-fledged budget or how it will address the legal issues that have arisen during the budget’s implementation.
Not only the budget, but all of the ministers in the Oli-led cabinet, as well as secretariat staff, have been relieved of their positions.
Budhanilkantha’s security has been beefed up for newly appointed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. DSP Komal Shah, previously in charge of the Kathmandu municipal police, has been appointed as Prime Minister Deuba’s Chief Security Officer (PSO). Deuba will relocate to Baluwatar in a few days.
Ramesh Badal, the Attorney General, resigned yesterday. Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, and members Krishna Prasad Oli, Usha Jha, Min Bahadur Shahi, and Raj Bahadur Giri have been relieved of their positions.
Similarly, Bishnu Rimal, Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Gajendra Thapaliya, and Surya Thapa, among others, have lost their jobs in Prime Minister Oli’s secretariat.
