KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has informed the President’s Office that it will take action against 26 lawmakers who backed the opposition alliance’s claim to the prime ministership by proposing Sher Bahadur Deuba.
According to a source close to UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, they sent a notice to the President’s Office requesting action because the lawmakers had violated the party’s rules. The source said, “We have told them that action will be taken against them for breaching party discipline.”
According to Article 76 (5) of the constitution, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba handed over the signatures of 149 lawmakers to the President’s Office on Friday to form a coalition. Madhav Kumar Nepal’s CPN-UML party has 26 signatures among the 149 lawmakers.
