According to Bhogendra Jha, Vice-Chairman of the Province 2 Policy Commission, the budget presented by the government through the ordinance is appreciated but cannot be implemented.
“It has come out with many ambitious plans,” he remarked in a brief interview with Nepal Press. It is a significant difficulty to put them into action. He claims that many ambitious ideas may be shelved due to the forthcoming elections.”
“These plans will not be realized if parliament is not reconstituted and elections are not held in November,” he warned.
He also claimed that the budget did not address the issue of workers who were laid off as a result of COVID.
It is commendable that emphasis has been given to the health sector, and that numerous concessions have been made to enterprises in light of the COVID crisis, but what about relief packages for the poor? This is a flaw on the side of the government.”
